After someone is granted a patent, they can transfer ownership to someone else, or their name could change. If you need to find the current owner of a patent, the best place to start is a patent assignment search. The USPTO has a page that describes the process and links you to the appropriate database. They also have an email on that page, in case you're having difficulty with your search.
