We have LibGuides regarding both Company Research and Industry Research. Ultimately, what you're doing is a combination of those two types of research, comparing company metrics to similar industry-level metrics. If you'd like a bit of guidance on HOW to compare a company to a particular industry, the industry surveys in the NetAdvantage database include a section on 'How to Analyze a Company in this Industry', which might give you some ideas, as well as a section on 'Comparative Company Analysis' where major players in an industry are compared on a handful of key metrics.

The Factiva database also includes some pre-made comparisons which includes ratios comparing the company to the industry and sector. Go to the 'Company/Markets' tab, search for the company of interest to you, and on the company profile page go to 'Reports' and then 'Ratio Comparison Report'.
