There are sometimes inactive companies included in some of our databases, but information is generally very limited.  The Library of Congress has a webpage with books that might help an individual start research on an obsolete security and the Florida-UCLA-LoPucki Bankruptcy Research Database contains data on all of the more than one-thousand large public companies that have filed bankruptcy cases since October 1, 1979 (note: may not be updated after 2022).  Ultimately though, this is potentially difficult research and it's probably a good idea to contact the Business Librarian for assistance.
