Maybe the easiest way to look into this via a library database is to start by searching for the company by name in the Mergent Online database. The resulting company profile page will indicate if the company is public or private. You could also go to the Factiva database ,to the Companies/Market tab, and search for your company by name. Company profile pages include a line on Ownership Type (listed or unlisted). The Location Type will indicate Headquarters or Subsidiary status.

If you're looking for more information about a private or subsidiary company, please contact the Business Librarian. Private company research can be challenging.
